- Manage and conduct research projects, including the following tasks:
- Prepares project technical proposals and budget estimates
- Serves as the primary liaison with automotive OEM’s and industry partners to align research with real-world applications.
- Coordinates with DRI’s internal IRB.
- Manages the preparation of project paperwork, including participant instructions, training materials, ratings and questionnaires, run logs, participant schedules, and data reduction forms.
- Develop test plans, including setting up testing procedures, collecting data, and analyzing results.
- Executes research test plans, including driving simulator, over-the-road, and closed-course track testing research.
- Write preliminary and final reports, including summarizing findings and making recommendations for future research.
- Manage project timelines and deadlines, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
- Support the dissemination of project findings through publications, presentations, and other communication channels.
- Contribute to developing the Human Factors team, including the following tasks:
- Lead and provide guidance to junior Human Factors staff or interns
- Identify areas requiring additional training, procedures, or processes to ensure the Human Factors team is able to meet the project objectives and goals.
- Business development activities, including the following tasks:
- Work with the Business Development team to identify and pursue new business opportunities, expand the customer base, and drive revenue growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective customers.
- Collaborate with industry partners on collaborative research opportunities.
- Master's Degree (or higher) in Human Factors, Human-Machine Interaction, Psychology, Industrial Engineering, or similar field.
- Demonstrated experience with IRB submissions and human subject research
- Strong track record in proposal writing and securing project funding.
- Strong record demonstrating your ability to design behavioral studies using a variety of human participants and database research methods (e.g., survey, experimental, quasi-experimental, case study).
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience leading human factors research, preferably in the automotive or transportation industry, leading multiple scientific studies from start (i.e., design) to finish (i.e., communicating your results).
- Proficiency in statistics and the use of basic statistics software (e.g., SPSS, R, Matlab, Excel).
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently.
- Be self-motivated and driven by a clear set of goals and objectives.
- Possess strong multitasking abilities, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Display an elevated level of professionalism, punctuality, articulation, and broad knowledge.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Standard business hours are Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. With flexibility in the schedule of occasionally working early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
