Space Protection Programs is seeking a skilled Software Engineering Associate Manager who can guide a team through a complex mission application software development lifecycle. Candidate must have the ability to take ownership of software development activities and drive the application of agile methods that require a multifaceted execution approach, depending on the time-phased needs of the program. Responsible for frequent use and application of software engineering standards and techniques, including Object Oriented Design and Agile development techniques in addition to the training, coaching, and mentoring of agile teams and leaders. Will work in a highly collaborative environment with frequent and direct interaction with peers and occasional customer interactions.In this role you will:
- Contribute to the technical strategy and vision from the Lockheed Martin Space organization into the products produced out of SPP
- Lead a team of software engineers through the development process, providing training, guidance, and mentoring to include recurring and annual performance assessments
- Manage the software development and test environment, COTS/FOSS hardware and software, and in-house developed software packages and tools
- Ensure company command media is followed and advocate continuous process improvement
- Manage the peer review process and utilize the associated metrics as objective evidence of project status and forecasted progress
- Manage the software problem reporting system and utilize the associated metrics for process improvement
- Coordinate requirements, data, and test case inputs with system engineers and subsystem engineers
- Perform Control Account Manager (CAM) tasks - Plan and manage project schedules
- Prepare cost estimates and manage budgets including support of proposals - Provide regular status briefings to program management. Identify technical, cost, and schedule risks
- Manage staffing within an SPP FSW team.Basic Qualifications
- Minimum BS degree and 5 years of experience in software test engineering or a related technical discipline in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in full life cycle Software Development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven technical leadership skills with ability to lead a multidisciplinary team
- Experience developing detailed plans in support of technical assignments
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Poly.
- Prior Spacecraft Flight Software development experience
- Knowledge of embedded systems architectures and test experience using embedded systems.
- Agile development experience
- Prior engineering management or project lead experience including task planning, resource management, and employee development and mentoring
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical systems/programs
- Experience working in technical teams across multiple locations
- Integration and test experience with large complex software systems
- Experience with Continuous Integration and/or CI/CD
