
Instrumentation System Design Engineer

- You will be responsible for the design specification, bring up, validation and deployment of automated instrumentation to calibrate and test Apple's products through NPI and mass production.
- Architect instrumentation systems (including HW specification) and maintain those systems through production
- Work with our mechanical engineering team to specify and validate the required mechanical fixtures & automation systems
- Develop, debug, and optimize automation software
- Run simulations/ DOEs to make data driven decisions & presenting to management
- Analyze large amounts of data generated from your instrument systems and embrace data-driven approaches to solving engineering challenges
- Perform failure mode root cause analysis and resolution, debugging from the system level down to the component level
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams like module design, system EE, product design, firmware, operations, and logistics teams.
- Frequent interactions with contract manufacturers/vendors; developing SOPs, debug instructions, and documentation
- Masters/ Bachelors in Robotics/Mechatronics/Electrical/ Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of professional experience in design, development, debug, validation and working with electro-mechanical systems
- Programming skills in one or more of the following: C/C++/Objective-C, along with scripting knowledge (Python, Lua)
- Proven understanding of consumer electronics modules like transducers/ sensors (light/force/pressure/touch/motion)
- Understanding of test principles, GRR, experience with test automation and optimization
- Experience and strong background in control system and signal processing
- Experience in high volume consumer electronics manufacturing
- Experience with digital serial communication protocols (USB, UART, I2C, SPI)
- Experience with data processing tools - plotting, processing and mining data
- Experience or deep understanding to AI/ML modeling
- Experience analyzing and processing large data sets
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to handle many priorities across multiple rigors
- Domestic and international travel may be required (up to 10%)
