Job DescriptionDewberry is an ENR top 50 design firm operating throughout the United States and has a robust facility engineering presence on the east coast and the mid-west. Currently we provide full-service engineering services for buildings facilities and infrastructure projects. The structural engineering practice includes a fully staffed and mature Building and Facilities Structural Design Group, with offices in New York City, NY, Raleigh, NC and Peoria, IL, supporting engineering groups include MEP, civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering. The Building and Facilities Structures Group has a varied resume, including commercial and institutional buildings, new construction, renovation and rehabilitation, waterfront structures, transit and rail facilities, water and wastewater treatment plants and energy projects. The majority of the client base is public sector, but a more diverse public-private balance is desirable. This group has delivered projects using both the design-bid-build and design build procurement methodologies. Technical tools and technical systems are in place including state of the art analysis software, quality control procedures, and production platforms including design standards and project delivery in BIM.As part of Dewberry’s current plan to expand and service our overall volume of work, we’re looking for a Building and Facilities Structural Design Group Leader in Jackson, MS to enhance our ability to provide a quality work product, better serve our existing clients and expand our client base. We are searching for a leader who is interested in a bigger challenge to enhance our current operation and meet our growth goals.The Group Leader will lead and manage a new Building and Facilities Structural Engineering group. Duties include managing the day to day operations of the Group, securing and leading a talented and competent staff, business development, allocating resources, planning and monitoring work flow, branch level reporting, planning and budgeting, proposal preparation, interacting with other Dewberry groups and offices, and collaborating closely with other Dewberry offices that offer buildings and facilities engineering. In addition to these duties, the Group Leader will be called upon to manage complex multi-discipline projects utilizing both design/build and design/bid/build delivery methodologies.Dewberry is a leading, market-facing professional services firm with more than 50 locations and 2,000 professionals nationwide.   • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with a strong technical background in building structures and related engineering.
  • A PE License in one or more states.
  • Strong leadership talents and demonstrated success supervising people.
  • Experience in managing project teams.
  • Private and public sector building structures experience managing projects and clients is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing staff utilization and maintaining project manpower budgets.
  • Experience in developing private and public sector client proposals, including technical and fee proposals.
  • Knowledge of the A/E marketplace in the mid-Atlantic area.
  • A strong desire to engage in business development activities in order to meet growth, client
  • diversity, and profit goals.
  • Experience with design of structural steel and reinforced concrete building structures.
  • Experience with design of water treatment and wastewater treatment structures.
