In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models that transform complex datasets into actionable insights.This is a multi-year consulting engagement focused on enabling data-driven decision-making through high-quality visualizations, analytics solutions, and data storytelling. You will work closely with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure reporting solutions meet organizational needs and follow best practices for scalability, security, and performance.This role is ideal for a developer who thrives on turning data into clear, compelling insights and has a strong background in data modeling, ETL design, and modern BI tools.Key Responsibilities
  • Dashboard & Report Development: Build and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide actionable business insights.
  • Data Modeling: Design, optimize, and maintain data models to support enterprise analytics and reporting needs.
  • ETL & Data Preparation: Collaborate with data engineers to acquire, clean, and transform datasets for reporting purposes.
  • DAX & Advanced Calculations: Write DAX expressions and advanced calculations to enable dynamic reporting and analytics.
  • Visualization Best Practices: Apply design and visualization standards to create intuitive and impactful reporting solutions.
  • Data Security & Compliance: Ensure all BI solutions comply with security, privacy, and governance best practices.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize Power BI performance, datasets, and refresh cycles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver BI solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Identify and resolve issues in reports, dashboards, and data models in a timely manner.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain documentation for BI solutions, and provide training and support to end users.
Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in BI architecture, data warehousing, ETL design, and analytics development.
  • Proven expertise in Power BI development, including dashboard creation, data modeling, and advanced calculations.
  • Strong background in SQL for data manipulation, integration, and optimization.
  • Experience with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for dynamic calculations and reporting logic.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and enterprise reporting environments.
Technical Competencies:
  • Skilled in creating clear, impactful visualizations following best practices for design and user experience.
  • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI (preferred), with exposure to Cognos, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of data security, compliance standards, and report access management.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues in BI environments and optimizing performance.
  • Certifications in Power BI or other BI platforms preferred.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
