In this role, you’ll provide direct support to the U.S. Space Force Launch Vehicle Mission Assurance team, ensuring the continued success of National Security Space Launch (NSSL) missions. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage deeply with launch operations, vehicle systems, and mission assurance activities—directly impacting Assured Access to Space (AATS).Key Responsibilities
- Analyze SpaceX launch operations processes and procedures, including vehicle processing, test, and checkout.
- Monitor SpaceX’s anomaly resolution processes, track risks/issues/changes, and support the Mission Assurance team by troubleshooting and reporting both nominal and anomalous events.
- Assess and evaluate launch complex requirements, design changes, and verification/validation documentation; provide risk assessments and recommendations to the Government.
- Observe and support launch readiness reviews, post-flight data reviews, ground system performance reviews, technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and Chief Engineer Review Boards.
- Collaborate closely with Astrion’s Cape Canaveral Software Engineering team, ensuring engineering verification needs are incorporated into the Dynamic Launch Review Matrix application.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline.
- 12+ years of experience as a systems engineer, technical project manager, or related field.
- 4+ years of DoD or launch/range experience.
- Flexibility to support launch vehicle operations, testing, and mission support during non-standard hours/days, often across multiple attempts.
- Familiarity with Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) facilities, providers, and operations.
- Proficiency with digital data/collaboration tools: Power Automate, Jira, Confluence, Mattermost, Power BI, Power Apps.
- Experience in data analysis and API development.
- Knowledge of launch site communications systems (telemetry, operational voice, and video).
- Experience working with or alongside SpaceX or other launch service providers.
- Background supporting or liaising with agile software development teams.
- Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively, while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- Remain stationary for extended periods (up to 50%).
- Move within an office environment to access files, equipment, and workspaces.
- Operate a computer and office equipment daily.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and customers—including presenting technical information clearly and accurately.
