Staff Accountant- General Ledger and Accounts Receivable

- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate coding and documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and schedules.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations, especially for AR and accrued revenue.
- Assist with audit preparation, including pulling support and documentation for GL entries.
- Support restricted and unrestricted fund accounting and grant reporting as needed.
- Prepare and issue invoices to funders, donors, and other stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor and manage AR aging, following up on outstanding balances and resolving discrepancies.
- Record incoming payments (checks, EFTs, donations) and allocate them appropriately in the accounting system.
- Reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger monthly.
- Assist with donor/grant receipting and ensure compliance with funding agreements.
- Assist with the monthly and year-end closing processes.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the financial team.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- Experience: 2+ years of experience working in GL accounting, preferably within the non-profit sector
- Skills:
- Proficiency in cloud-based accounting software (NetSuite preferred)
- Strong understanding of GAAP, and accounts receivable principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of office management functions including strong computer and technology skills (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills, including keen attention to detail and ease at managing competing demands and determining priorities independently
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity
- Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, including CBI/FBI fingerprinting. MVR and a national sex offender registry check
- Other: Ability to work flexible hours, Driver's license, bilingual preferred
