Position Overview:
A local tile manufacturing facility is looking for a Junior Automation Technician to join their team! This position plays an important role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated systems used in ceramic tile production. The technician will work closely with senior staff and engineers to keep equipment running efficiently and reliably.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing, programming, building, and troubleshooting control systems such as PLCs, HMIs, motion controls, sensors, and drives.
- Support system integration, testing, and debugging to ensure systems operate correctly.
- Maintain and update control system documentation.
- Troubleshoot and repair both equipment and electrical systems throughout the facility.
- Help plan projects, track progress, and communicate updates in a timely manner.
- Create and update manuals, work instructions, and troubleshooting materials to aid production staff.
- Contribute to preventative maintenance planning to ensure equipment reliability.
- Follow all safety codes, standards, and regulations.
- Rotate on-call duties during nights and weekends for automation-related issues.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
- Associate’s Degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience working with automation in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of PLC/HMI programming and configuration (Siemens, Omron, and Ignition preferred).
- Familiarity with configuring drives (Siemens and Omron preferred).
- Strong focus on detail and workplace safety.

- Visual ability including near and far sight, color recognition, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Regular exposure to moving machinery, wet/humid areas, heights, dust/fumes, and outdoor environments.
- At times, exposure to chemicals, extreme hot or cold conditions, and vibration.
- Work environment is generally loud.
