Ophthalmic TechnicianWe are currently seeking an Ophthalmic technician to join our team full time Monday through Friday clinics (no weekends). We are dedicated to excellence in patient care and serving our community. The ideal candidate can demonstrate an understanding of essential Ophthalmic Technician competencies and apply them in a fast-paced environment.ABOUT THE ROLEYour role will involve performing preliminary exams including patient histories, visual acuity, lensometry, refractometry, pupil evaluation, EOMs, confrontational fields, angle assessment, applanation tonometry, I-care and pachymetry. You should become skilled at performing diagnostic testing such as OCT, HVF, Topography, and A-scan, IOL master and Immersion.The Ophthalmic Technician will report to the Practice manager. In this role, you will assist where needed in the clinic with an emphasis on teamwork and productivity. Our technicians’ duties may rotate and very during the week. Daily assignments may be call center triage, ophthalmic testing, scribing, and/or patient work ups, based on the needs of the practice.ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preform preliminary exams including patient histories, visual acuity, lensometry, refractometry, pupil evaluation, EOMs, confrontational fields, angle assessment,
  • I-care, and applanation tonometry.
  • Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications as directed by physicians.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic testing such as OCT, HVF, Topography, A-Scan IOL master and immersion.
  • Familiar with ocular medications, terminology, and ocular diseases.
  • Documents complete and accurate chart notes
  • Instruct patients about medications, tests, and procedures.
  • Administers prescriptions refills as directed by the doctor and responds to medication requests from pharmacies.
  • Knowledge of patient flow
  • Knowledge of instruments routinely used in office
  • Assists with in-office procedures including informed consent.
  • Responsible for care, maintenance, stocking, and set up of exam rooms.
  • Ability to be cross-functional to assist the patient and the doctor in what is necessary for the best possible care.
  • Maintains privacy and confidentiality.
Requirements:· Highschool diploma or equivalent· 1-2 Years of experience in ophthalmology practice· EHR experience· Basic computer skillsPreferred but not required:Nextgen EHR experienceBilingualCertification through JCAHPO
