Simply put, we place an enormous value on our staff and we are not afraid to show it.About us:Nestled on a beautiful, wooded campus in West Roxbury, Deutsches Altenheim is part of Legacy Lifecare, a non-profit, mission driven organization that has been providing innovative care to the elderly and disabled in Massachusetts for over 100 years.We are currently seeking an experienced KITCHEN MANAGER to work in conjunction with our Food Service Director in leading the dietary team at the Deutsches Altenheim facility.German Centre at Deutsches Altenheim located in West Roxbury, MA, is a skilled nursing residence and post-acute care provider that consistently delivers high-quality, compassionate care while focusing on the development of innovative programs and services that enable individuals to live as independently as possible.Qualifications:
  • Required: A minimum of five years food or restaurant or food service management, including production, service, sanitation, training, and education.
  • Required LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, and REGISTRATIONS: Serve Safe Certified obtained within 6 months of employment. Additional certifications required by federal, state, and/or local regulations.
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Culinary, Restaurant/Institution Management, Dietetics, or Nutrition preferred.
Position Overview:
  • Coordinates activities of all Dietary Staff on the Dietary Team as instructed by Food Service Director.
  • Assists the Food Service Director with training new employees and performance reviews, as well as implementation of corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintains the overall operation of main kitchen and cooks.
  • Actively cooks and executes meals based on schedule.
  • Ensures food quality and security in conjunction with the Food service director
  • Maintains inventory of all food served and food substitutions, records purchases and usages.
  • Inspects all purchases of food for freshness and high levels of quality
  • Participates in resident care meetings and infectious control.
  • Responsible for all special events related to food and services.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all Dietary staff.
  • Responsible for kitchen sanitation and monthly temperature logs
  • Works closely with maintenance in regards to all codes, regulations, and repairs of equipment.
  • Attendance at all necessary management meetings and forums.
  • Acts under the guidance of the Food Service Director, and responds to requests promptly.
Hours: Full-Time Tuesday to Saturday, evenings included and weekend coverage mandatory.Job Posted by ApplicantPro
