The Process and Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for overall control system concept and design and contribute to continuous improvement for our processing and automation equipment focus but not limited to formulation and packaging areas. The Process and Automation Controls Engineer will have a thorough knowledge of industrial automation process control with a minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing industry or bachelor's degree in mechatronic engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent educational background, understanding of electrical safety standards and equipment related safety standards, hands-on troubleshooting, CAD software experience (AUTOCAD and SolidWorks preferred) PLC/HMI programming experience with Rockwell Software such as RSLogix 5000/Studio5000, RSLogix500 and FactoryTalk.Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements:
  • Develop and define a standard for automation controls across the manufacturing process using best practices and programming techniques.
  • Program, configure, specify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMI, VFDs, Servos, Vision Systems, and Robotics systems.
  • Create electrical and pneumatic schematics and other automation/controls-related drawings.
  • Provide expertise in engineering, design, installation, and start-up of formulation processing and automation systems.
  • Assist manufacturing operations in problem solving with regards to the processing equipment and automation systems.
  • Assist in the validation of process and facility automation.
  • Support Operations in the design, maintenance, scale-up, optimization, automation, troubleshooting and validation of manufacturing processes or equipment.
  • Prepare user requirements and factory acceptance testing strategy for new formulation process filling and packaging equipment.
  • Pneumatic conveying knowledge.
  • On-call position, may require working nights, weekends and holidays (24/7 Production schedule).
Physical Requirements:
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs in buildings.
  • Requires ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, pulling, and pushing.
  • Ability to work outdoors throughout the year in extreme temperatures.
