
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner PNP - Pediatric Hospitalist Service - Part-Time

- 24/7 inpatient care for children with both routine and complex medical conditions.
- Pediatric sedation service, sedating pediatric patients for noninvasive medical procedures and imaging studies
- in-person and telemedicine consultative services for our on-site emergency department(s), urgent care locations and outlying facilities
- In addition to pediatric care, we manage a newborn nursery, attend high-risk deliveries and perform neonatal resuscitation/stabilization as needed.
- Part of a vital program within our integrated, not-for-profit health system
- 24x7 intensivist support provided by NICU and PICU.
- Thriving pediatric subspecialty group including pediatric cardiology, endocrinology (ADA recognized diabetes program), GI, nephrology, neurology, pediatric surgery, behavioral medicine, pulmonology, hematology/oncology, and chronic care.
- Co-located inpatient and outpatient services – centralized program in flagship hospital with comprehensive lab and ancillary services and a brand-new physician lounge, gym and easy access parking.
- Systemwide EPIC EMR with on-site support
- Care for a culturally and socioeconomically diverse patient population
- Non-profit system eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
- Completes a comprehensive health assessment including an appropriate health history (chief complaint, history of present illness, past medical history, family history, social history, review of systems, and pain history) and physical exam
- Determines the need for and interprets the results of relevant screening and diagnostic tests.
- Demonstrates sound clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning abilities to formulate a diagnosis by critically analyzing history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests.
- Effectively communicates health findings and/or the diagnosis of a health condition to the patient, discusses the prognosis and options for treatment for the condition, and then establishes a mutually acceptable plan of care with the patient.
- Manages acute and chronic health conditions by providing effective pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions; assists patients in following the plan of treatment: and selects the appropriate best practice treatment.
- Prepares written prescription orders, medications, and controlled substances under the rules and regulations of the State of NM and the Federal DEA.
- Initiates timely and appropriate consultation, referral or collaboration with the hospitalist and/or members of the health care team.
- Determines the need for and implements health promotion strategies for patients considering specific age and cultural requirements in accordance with population health principles to reduce risk factors and prevent disease
- Demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills for patients of various ages and cultures, and also has the ability to develop appropriate and professional rapport with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
- Maintains patient medical records as required by hospital and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledgeable of the contents of AAP Guidelines for Perinatal Care.
- Credentialed to perform circumcision and frenectomy.
- Maintains Neonatal Resuscitation Credentialing.
- Credentialing to perform neonatal intubation.
- Attendance at deliveries and providing support as needed until transport to another level of service provided
- Performs other duties as assigned.
