Position Title:Maintenance Journeyman Level 3 (J3)Pay Rate:$44.03/hr.Physical Location:New Bern Mill1785 Weyerhaeuser RoadVanceboro, NC 28586(252) 633-7244Category/Shift:Hourly Full-TimeJob RequirementsAt least 18 years of ageMinimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experienceEligible for employment in the USAt least three (3) years of work experience in any two of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTINGMust be willing to meet the following requirements:Work in industrial conditions (may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, elevated working surfaces, and confined spaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)Undergo technical online testing, interview, and a formal hands-on assessment of skillsUndergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employmentUndergo a job-related health assessment as a condition of employmentSubmit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employmentWork any shift and/or a rotating shift scheduleWork overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notificationWork holidays and/or weekends on a regular basisWear required safety equipmentIt is preferred that candidates have the following skills and/or experience(s):Associates degree or certification(s) in any of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTINGAt least five (5) years of work experience in any two of the following mechanical disciplines: MILLWRIGHT, MACHINIST, WELDING, or PIPEFITTINGRelevant work experience in an industrial environment.The Job You Will Perform:This position will work alongside journeymen-level mechanical maintenance technicians in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently.   • Install machine and equipment according to lay-out plan, blueprints and other drawings
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, dial indicators and laser alignment equipment
  • Install machinery, new and existing equipment
  • Repair and lubricate machine and equipment
  • Refurbish/maintain valves, pumps, gear boxes, bearings, agitators, conveyors, turbines, paper machines, lime kiln
  • Measure for bearing clearance and shaft diameters
  • Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues
  • Fabricate structural materials as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Machinist:Fit and assemble part to fabricate or repair to maintain industrial machinesObserve and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctionUnderstanding blueprints and field drawings and machine partsUtilize machine measuring equipmentRepair, reproduce or rebuild various partsUnderstand different materials and their machining propertiesFabricate machine partsPerform aligning of machines and field machiningOperate cranes, tow motors and forkliftsTroubleshoot equipment reliability issues
  • Other duties as assigned
Welding:Read and interpret welding blueprints, selecting the appropriate welding processes and materials, operating welding equipment safelyPerform various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick Welding), ensuring proper joint preparation, and maintain weld quality and integrityPerform field measurements and installations as neededAssemble and install pipes, and valves according to lay-out plan, blueprints and other drawingsOperate overhead cranes, tow motors and forkliftsFabricate structural materials and pipes as needed

Pipefitter:Read and interpret blueprints and drawingsPerform welding or brazing as neededPerform field measurements and installations as neededAssemble and install pipes, and valves according to lay-out plan, blueprints and other drawingsFabricate structural materials and pipes as neededConduct pressure testing to ensure integrityUnderstand specifications and regulations related to plumbing and piping system
