- Governance: Delivers and deploys HSE plan & training. Works with Field Service Technicians on audits and Group-wide performance improvement programs for the Division and Local Business Units.
- Metrics: Implement HSE/Sustainability Affairs (SA) strategic plan actions and closely monitor ABB Way requirements & Divisional HSE/SA guardrail assurance within their business responsibilities. Supports and guides the reporting and associated reviews of all categories of HSE incidents, driving actions aligned to the root cause. Feedback on lessons learned and best practices. Manage overall Business Line (BL) HSE performance and monitor Local Business Lines (LBL's) HSE performance fulfilling their HSE/SA targets & objectives from HSE/SA annual plan. Provides analysis of HSE data within area of responsibility. Reports on progress on implementation of Sustainability Objectives and key performance indicators (KPI) as required
- Regulatory compliance: Implements policies and standards of ABB Way Management system & monitors assurance across their operations. Assist managers in understanding any obligations, fiduciary liability, and how to assure the delivery of their roles according to local HSE law and ABB WAY HSE/SA management system standards and codes of practice. Contributes to assessing emerging trends and legislation in HSE and communicates relevant information on legal requirements. Support to operate in compliance with standards and respective legal obligations. Responsible for management of Worker’s Compensation claims.
- Risk management: Implement Risk & Opportunity standards at the BL level and Activity Based Risk Assessment for the local operations level. Delivers audit (as per Division, BA & Country Audit Program) and supports follow up of improvement actions in the Local Business Units. Provide specialist risk management advice to the team socializing HSE risks in their business operations
- Continuous Improvement. Drives positive behavioral change and implement timebound actions for continual HSE improvement opportunities. Continuously increases assurance as aligned to the ABB WAY HSE/SA management system and aligns focus of BL leadership team with their objectives and targets
- Communication and engagement: Add value through HSE functional support to operations teams and support field line managers driving performance. Engages with internal and external stakeholders to build commitment and credibility to deliver Resilient Operations through clear, concise, and exceptional communication
- Operational support: Supports behavioral change to continuously improve performance through programs and initiatives. Ensures ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001 certification covers the local operations in line with ABB directives. Ensures appropriate level of HSE competence throughout the organization defining HSE training needs for differing roles
- Project & Service management: Contribute actively to Project risk review, Human Rights risk evaluation, Scheduled Project Reviews, Contractor Management evaluating HSE risks, and advise relevant stakeholders providing support for effective mitigation. Assure Project Management framework and ABB Way requirements have been applied for Project & Contractor Management in Project Specific HSE plan considering competent resources for safer execution. Contributes plans and executes Health, Safety and Environment performance and Corporate Responsibility related projects & services. Develops and reports on project & service objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors, Electrical Competency and Authorization Program (ECAP) Certifications, Electrical Safety & trainings
- HSE Monitoring & assurance: Assure all HSE/SA reporting aspects have been fulfilled for respective BL and assigned lead countries timely. Implement Self-Assessment programs in operations and report best practices & findings. Quarterly progress of HSE/SA strategic plan activities according HSE targets. Lead Incident Management to identify root causes & learning/ Improvement opportunities assuring continual improvement. Initiate sharing best practices and apply standardized processes to deliver consistent support. Manage safety training database, assignments, and timely completions
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 plus years of relevant work/military experience required OR Associate degree in a related field and 7 plus years of relevant work/military experience required OR HS Diploma and 9 plus years of relevant work/military experience required
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certified
- Candidates must be willing to travel at least 40%
