- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college/university.
- Experience with students with hearing loss. Maybe as part of University training.
- A Valid Texas teaching certificate as a teacher of the deaf/hard-of-hearing or teacher of students with auditory impairments.
- Knowledge of the unique communication needs of students with an auditory impairment.
- Knowledge of various types of hearing loss, communication needs, and adaptive/assistive devices and equipment used by students with auditory impairments.
- Knowledge of sign language and the ability to instruct students to speak/understand sign language.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction at all grade levels.
- Knowledge and ability to participate in the ARD process.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with campus teachers to assure that AI students are able to participate in classroom activities with necessary accommodations.
- Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
