Description :Job SummaryThe Continuous Improvement (CI) Technician plays a key role in supporting Lake Crystal Lean Manufacturing and process improvement initiatives. This position combines hands-on welding and fabrication work with data collection, time studies, and participation in Kaizen events. The CI Technician ensures production quality and efficiency by aligning components, welding to specifications, maintaining equipment, and assisting with process flow improvements. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments to drive continuous improvement.Essential Duties
  • Support and actively participate in continuous process improvement and Lean initiatives.
  • Lay out, position, and align components using blueprints.
  • Use precision measuring tools (micrometer, level, tape measure, caliper, etc.) to ensure accuracy.
  • Weld components to meet quality standards; must be able to pass internal welding certification.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as assigned.
  • Apply and promote 5S principles to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen teams to identify and implement improvements.
  • Conduct time studies and observations and collect data for event planning and follow-up.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong math skills to measure, assemble, and solve problems.
  • Ability to manually handle up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending).
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
  • Skilled in reading blueprints, work instructions, and using measuring devices.
  • Basic computer data entry and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Ability to rotate across multiple machines/jigs and adapt to production needs.
  • Ability to assist with routine maintenance with minimal supervision.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and workplace safety regulations.
  • Experience designing and building carts, fixtures, or other process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Maintenance, or related technical field.
  • Vocational certification(s) in welding, fabrication, or manufacturing technology.
  • Six Sigma experience or certification.
  • Lean training in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Job Information
  • Wage Expectations: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour
  • Pay: This is a non-exempt, hourly position and employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis
  • Typical Schedule: Four (4) Ten (10) hour days M-F, Overtime may be available on your 5th day of the week and/or Saturdays
  • Location: On Site – 52182 Ember Road, Lake Crystal MN 56055
  • Travel: Very minimal to none
