NTERNAL APPLICANTS WILL BE GIVEN FIRST CONSIDERATION PURSUANT TO A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTUnder direction of ES Manager, is responsible for maintaining central recycling and yard waste drop-off sites, performing a variety of Environmental Services program tasks to promote a good public image and maintain facility systems in optimal operating condition.WORKING HOURS:Monday - Friday 10:00 am to 6:30 pm with one day offSaturday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm(These duties are illustrative only. Incumbents may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.)Provides customer service through guidance, instructions and information to customers regarding facility operation, and policies and other programs administered by the Environmental Services Division; assists physically impaired customers, as necessary, to properly process materials. Identifies materials that include but are not limited to solid waste, recycling, yard waste, universal waste, hazardous waste, plus construction and demolition debris. Provides technical assistance to customers to manage materials through various resources. Maintains a professional manner when interacting with both internal and external customers. Complies with workplace health and safety standards: wears required personal protective equipment; promptly report unsafe conditions; complies with all departmental, county, state federal policies/procedures/regulations and laws.Performs and maintains operations at the facility to process recyclables, yard waste, household hazardous waste, universal waste, scrap metal, paint, records, and other materials; operates records management and baling equipment; operates County vehicles; pulls and backs trailers; performs safety checks; performs routine and minor maintenance on equipment used for this operation; monitors and clean vehicles and equipment.Maintains recycling and yard waste drop-off facility in optimal operating conditions; opens, closes and secures the facility; removes and properly disposes of litter, performs landscaping and snow removal.Maintains records and documents all processes; performs miscellaneous duties to assist in maintaining services under all conditions.Act as a liaison with other facilities, public and private partners to meet community, operational and logistic needs for the division and department; provide assistance and equipment for community events and festivals.Performs others duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); valid Ohio Driver's License.-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for education and/or experience required. Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification.CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Forklift certification**Must attend first available class offered by Greene County after hire.EQUIPMENT USED:Forklift, skid steer, grounds keeping equipment, snow removal equipment, Division pick-up truck, various small hand tools, various other solid waste management/recycling equipment, balers, and safety equipment.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions.VISUAL ACUITY:The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment. The worker is also required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general labor, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.).WORKING CONDITIONS:The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils; required to function around prisoners or mental patients; and may be exposed to infectious diseases.HEAVY WORK: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
