Job Description:TECHNICIANIntertek is searching for a Technician to join our Transportation Technology team in our Kentwood Michigan office. What you'll do:
  • Prepare and setup test samples and test equipment.
  • Operate equipment and perform testing in accordance with approved test plan.
  • Obtain and record test data in accordance with standards.
  • Perform calculation and analysis of test data.
  • May draft test reports.
  • Maintaining and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Maintain lab facilities.
  • Assist with training entry level technicians.
  • May make recommendation regarding the interpretation and applicability for specific test standards.
  • May communicate with clients regarding general project inquiries, updates, etc.
  • May assist with test plan creation and/or method development
  • May adapt procedures and equipment to meet department needs.
  • May prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures.
  • Perform other work as required.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
  • High school diploma or GED and 3+ years of directly related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or directly related technical field.
  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Mechanical Aptitude - Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Problem Solver - Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment - Hard worker, Self Starter, Organized, and Eager to Learn
  • Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Must be quality-focused and customer driven
  • Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Physical Requirements:
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Perform tasks on a ladder or step stool and on the floor; ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Work on beneath or above equipment or test samples.
