Basketball Program AssistantWe are seeking a passionate and skilled Program Assistant to helps with the seasonal basketball league team coordinated by Concord Recreation. Will be performing varied duties requiring the ability to exercise judgment and initiative in completing tasks, including referring games, helping run practices, or running the scoreboard. Incumbent is called upon to handle a significant amount of details, each varying from the other in substance and content, requiring incumbent to approach workload with flexibility.Pay range: $15.00 - $18.00/hour; starting pay based on qualifications. This is an hourly, part-time position, consisting of up to 6 hours per week. Schedule is December 2025 - March 2026, 8:30am-1pm.Applications will continue to be accepted and may be considered until the positions are filled. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, creative thinking, a passion for basketball and knowledge of basketball rules and regulations. Performs varied duties requiring the ability to exercise judgment and initiative in completing tasks, including referring games, helping run practices, or running the scoreboard. Incumbent is called upon to handle a significant amount of details, each varying from the other in substance and content, requiring incumbent to approach workload with flexibility.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis.
  • Serves as a member of Concord Recreation team supporting the overall objectives of the Department in accordance with all Town of Concord policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures.
  • Available to support the Recreation Supervisor(s) before events with tasks such as inventorying supplies, organizing materials, preparing court for the day of games and/or practices.
  • Officiates (refs) basketball games for grades k-5.
  • Sets up event equipment such as basketball cages, scoreboards, knowledge of who is playing where at what times. Cleans and maintains recreation equipment as requested.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Works weekends as necessary to effectively support programs, league plays on Saturday mornings.
  • Performs special projects and related responsibilities as initiated and requested.
  • Performs other related duties as requested, required or directed, or as the situation dictates.
  • Regular attendance at the workplace is required.
  • Assures that actions and words are professional, service focused, family centered, and respectful at all times.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience working in a recreation or leisure setting, preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Currently plays basketball or has played organized basketball.
  • Basketball referee certification a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Thorough understanding of customer service and its relationship to participant satisfaction. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with all members of the public, including children, adults, and senior citizens in a courteous and tactful manner, and to enforce facility rules and regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers.

Frequently subjected to the demands of other individuals and the volume and /or rapidity with which tasks must be accomplished.Work may be performed in various weather events, including temperature, precipitation, among others.May operate computer, printer, calculator, telephone, copier, facsimile machine and all other standard office equipment requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
