- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects using HCSS HeavyBid, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate quantity take-offs and pricing.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure estimates reflect current field conditions and construction practices.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive and accurate pricing.
- Maintain and update cost databases, crew libraries, and historical data within HeavyBid.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs to assess project scope and risks.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, schedules, and value engineering options.
- Track and compare actual project costs against estimates to improve future accuracy.
- Stay current with industry trends, pricing, and construction technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in construction estimating, preferably in heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with other HCSS products (e.g., HeavyJob, HCSS Safety) is a plus.
- Familiarity with DOT bidding processes and public works projects.
- Certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or similar organization.
- Experience with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
