- Oversee month-end close and ensure timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Provide strategic financial insights to senior leadership to support business decisions.
- Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 accounting professionals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with internal audit requirements and regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain robust internal control systems.
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate revenue recognition and WIP reviews.
- Optimize ERP systems and accounting software to improve efficiency and reporting.
- Partner with HR, billing, purchasing, warehouse, sales, and customer service teams to drive best practices.
- Assist in developing comprehensive SOPs for all accounting functions.
- Support CFO with corporate reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Provide CFO with strategic insights to aid in business decision-making.
- Maintain compliance with sales and use tax regulations relevant to the construction and service industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA certification (active designation) preferred.
- Master’s degree (MSA, MPA, or MBA) is a plus – in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in accounting or finance leadership required – ten (10) preferred. Prior work experience in the service, construction or other related industry a plus.
- Prior experience managing others highly preferred.
- Experience with job costing and COINS ERP+ preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Proven experience managing AP/AR functions and working with external auditors.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently, with a disciplined work ethic, high energy level, and professional passion for accounting.
- Proven ability to motivate and manage a team – strong collaboration, coaching, influencing, and facilitation skills a must.
- Professional stature characterized by strong communication skills (oral and written), strength of convictions, and the ability to be appropriately persuasive and compelling regarding individual viewpoints as well as for the organization.
- Must possess a high sense of urgency and a record of on-time delivery of both routine responsibilities and projects.
