- Respond to internal and external correspondence that include both written and telephone inquiries;
- Assist with the implementation of the case tracker and OP Modernization efforts;
- Provide guidance to internal and external customers;
- Assist OPD, as needed, to improve processes and promote improvement of current procedures;
- Provide guidance and support to OPD staff by using Law, regulation and policy to make decisions on non-routine questions and assist investigators with necessary research relative to investigations;
- Prepare reports using a variety of computer applications;
- Research and create statistical reports;
- Coordinate with OPD and other OP's offices as necessary;
- Supervise secretarial and/or administrative staff;
- Utilize various computer applications to update data on internal and external websites and databases;
- Provide advice to, and otherwise assist, supervisors in planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating work operations and work procedures;
- Set up processes and develop forms for investigations as necessary, in consultation with key stakeholders;
- Analyze processes and coordinate recommendation changes with supervisors on process improvements; and
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or higher. All candidates that have taken and passed the most recent Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) exam are encouraged to apply.
- $45,494 (Trainee 1- NS equated to SG-11)
- $50,844 (Trainee 2- NS equated to SG-13)
- $53,764 (Full Performance level SG-14)
