Summary:The Chicago Tribune is seeking a Press Operator to join our team! The press operator uses pressroom equipment to analyze print orders and assign specific pages and sections to run on offset printing presses. This role collaborates with others in pressroom to effectively print and produce papers in a timely manner.This is a night shift position with a rotating schedule. Shifts are either from 5:00 PM - 1:00 AM or 7:00 PM - 3:00 AM, with rotating days off.What you will do:Use pressroom equipment to analyze print orders and assign specific pages (color/black) and sections to run on offset printing pressesDetermine proper press configurations, mark information on sheets for dissemination to crew supervisorsEnter information into computer systems and insert command codes to pressesCollaborate with supervisors to ensure proper newsprint rolls are loaded into system for use on offset unitsCommunicate timing, page sizes, and production runs to packaging supervisors and other departments as necessaryAnswer phones and route calls to appropriate individuals or take messagesWhat you will bring:Proficiency in collaborative teamwork and effective communicationAbility to operate and use equipment effectivelyDemonstrated organizational skillsHigh School diploma or equivalent preferredSix months or more experience in an offset pressroom preferredBenefits and Compensation:The hourly range is $23.00 - $29.37.
