Our job responsibilities include:
  • Assists the teacher with classroom tasks and management, such as correcting, tutoring, clerical work, or supervising students.
  • Communicates and establishes positive relationships with parents, staff, public and especially our amazing students.
  • Recognizes and responds to student's personal, educational, and/or social needs.
  • Becomes familiar with teacher expectations of students and facilitates desirable individual and group behavior and performance.
  • Organizes, directs, observes and maintains orderly and safe playground activities.
  • Reports any unusual circumstances, unauthorized visitors, unsafe conditions or students who misbehave or violate playground rules.
  • Takes appropriate action in the event of a school emergency.
  • Assists in the orientation of substitute aides.
  • Coordinates with the Teacher to provide extra support and tutoring to individual students as needed.
  • Assists with classroom management to maintain an orderly learning environment.
  • May include before or after school playground, transportation, crossing guard hall monitor and/or lunchroom duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A passion for kids and learning!
  • High school education or equivalent.
Meet one of the three requirements below:
  • Take and Pass Highly Qualified Test prior to employment*; OR
  • Have taken a minimum of 60 credits college coursework; OR
  • Have earned an Associate degree.
*What is a "Highly Qualified Test"? It is a test administered by KPS upon request that tests your aptitude in basic math, reading, and writing. Don't let the words "highly qualified" scare you! Our applicants have a 98% pass rate!Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with students in an educational setting.
  • The ability to look cool wearing a super hero cape!
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift, and may occasionally carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry. Medium Duty involves exertion of 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds continuously to move objects.
