- Designs scenery, lights and/or digital media for four or more faculty-directed productions during the academic year. Designs are executed by Theatre’s technical staff under the designer’s supervision.
- Collaborates in planning and building faculty productions as a scenic, lighting, and/or digital media designer, including preparing for and supervising technical rehearsals and performances.
- Advises and provides academic support for Theatre Department production classes and student independent projects. Shares responsibility for evaluating students enrolled in lab sessions in conjunction with Theatre Department’s Set/Lighting Professor, THEA 0119 & 0129.
- The Dog Team provides an active bridge for students of the College to the professional community of theatre makers, and the Company Manager’s role is directly responsible for the training and supervision of the students in a major element of their essential tasks.
- Assumes responsibility for transfer and execution of designs and all technical elements for two to three shows annually to the NYC theatre space.
- Establishes and executes meetings, policies, procedures and all items related to liability insurance and fire codes. Collaborates with the producing director in establishing operational budget and payroll, estimates federal, state and city taxes, along with workers comp and unemployment insurance.
- Submits and oversees all expenses through the college budget system. Issues weekly payroll, provides income and expense statements for y/e tax purposes.
- Acts as Advisor for the Hepburn Zoo and advises student designers on departmental projects, when applicable.
- MFA in Stage Design required
- Requires strong artistic, technical, administrative, and organizational skills; the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and communicate effectively with a wide range of persons. Professional experience in theatrical Production Management. Familiarity with the Actors’ Equity Association’s LORT D rule book.
- This position requires a 6-week residency in New York City during the summer. This position requires working closely with students and requires skills in instructing and supervising.
- This position requires collaborating with directors, designers, technical staff and students.
- This position requires the ability to schedule and organize self and others to meet deadlines. This position requires work in evenings and on weekends.
- Experience with theater-specific software e.g., Vectorworks, Lightwright, QLab, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite products. 8-10 years professional experience in Scenic, Lighting and/or Digital Media Design.
- 8-10 years work experience in the production, company and budgetary aspects of the position is required.
- Work includes moving heavy objects and working at heights
- Schedule includes working nights and weekends around technical rehearsals and performances
- Working conditions are a combination of an office environment and site work in theaters and scene shops
