Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current RN licensure in the State of Maryland. Attends and participates in in-service training and various educational programs for professional development, and keeping abreast of developments in the field. One-year previous experience in Critical Care Nursing within the past five years or previous Med/Surg experience with completion of a Critical Care IMCU internship. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient''s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit/area/department policies and procedures. This position exists to assume principle responsibility under general supervision, for the total care, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of each patient assigned to the Patient Care Unit either directly and/or through leadership of personnel. He/she develops and/or revises a plan of care. Initiates healthcare training and education to the patient and/or patient''s family to facilitate recovery. Utilizes principles of teaching and learning to assist patients, staff, and self, in the identification of the need for new knowledge and skills.
