Tiffany & Co. operates a manufacturing facility in Cumberland, RI where jewelry products unique to our company are crafted by a diverse workforce.Position Overview:The position will focus on new product sample creation, ensuring design for manufacturability, and providing design guidance and relevant development input-partnering with the NPI team on the process, time studies, and work instructions. Interact with the Training team to ensure project success as it moves to MFG. Responsible for all craft elements related to the construction and fabrication of production models for internal manufacturing. Translate skills to a larger audience through mentoring and hands-on training.Key Accountabilities:New Product Sample Creation:
  • Hard Prototypes- Translate design concepts (SP or CRD) into physical samples within the quoted delivery time. Review Components, mark up Critical Requirements Documents (CRD) as needed, attend technical meetings, and provide initial time studies and work instructions if required.
  • Production Test Run: Fabricate samples within the quoted delivery time. Ensure that the process can be successfully transferred to production. Assist in finalizing Tulip work instructions and confirm routing times. Partner with the training team to pass on the process.
  • Physically construct new production models for molds from castings or machined parts.
  • Be open to exploring alternate methods of fabrication based on business needs- routing times and cost constraints.
  • Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for your position and all safety procedures required at your worksite.
  • Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to your supervisor.
Communication:Interface with NPI leads, New Product Engineers, and Manufacturing SMEs on product functionality, manufacturability, manufacturing methods, and technical design elements.
  • Provide input for the CRD (Critical Requirement Document) and work instructions to reflect work steps, order, and timing accurately.
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office/365 (e.g., checking and responding to emails, attending online Teams meetings), as well as enterprise software (e.g., Tiffany Intranet, Kronos, Wrike, and Tulip)
  • Understand and utilize Wrike to check priorities, routing times, timelines, etc.
  • Utilize Tulip work instructions and participate in the creation of work instructions for new product
  • Partner with the Training Team on the sampling process
  • Actively and openly seek opportunities to share techniques and personal approaches to jeweler, setting, and polishing procedures with other team members.
  • Analyze and define problems related to existing production models. Repair/Refabricate production models with defined corrective action. This element includes all efforts related to the sprucing of the physical model both within the development and as an Engineering Change.
  • Participates in 5S activities and maintains a clean and safe work environment. Build partnerships within and across departments to provide efficiency and create a supportive work environment. Maintain a positive and respectful work environment by complying with Company policies and procedures while maintaining professional conduct.
Mentoring/Training/SME:
  • Function as a defector SME in most areas of sample creation-mentor and train less experienced craft. Align closely with the Training Team.
Required Qualifications: * Experience corresponding to Tiffany Level 4 or above in the following areas- Jeweler, Setter, Polisher
  • Knowledge of all jewelry architectural construction and tools, as well as precious metal properties
  • Ability to read and interpret design renderings/engineering documents
  • Able to communicate issues clearly to the immediate supervisor as well as internal team
  • Knowledge of stone and pearl properties, setting techniques, and styles.
Preferred Qualifications: * Ten years experience in jewelry production or development setting
  • Experience in 2 of 3 areas- Jeweler, Setter, or polisher
  • Good communication skills-Written and Oral ability to read and follow all established safety and manufacturing procedures
  • Interpersonal skills, ability to work and communicate with others in a constructive and professional manner
