Applicants may be referred for consideration as vacancies occur.The AFRL Munitions Directorate seeks to hire a Mid-Level DR-02, multidisciplinary position with series 0801 General Eng, 0830 Mechanical Eng, 0855 Electronics Eng, in the Radio Frequency Seekers & Fuze Branch (RWTSR) at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso, Florida.SES:Position duties include but are not limited to:Utilizes multidisciplinary professional engineering work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, systems, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines to plan, organize, lead and coordinate weapon research projects and/or processes. Applies a number of diverse engineering practices, techniques, and processes to identify and resolve issues, as well as ensure resolutions are consistent with program objectives, existing policies, and procedures. Performs analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to manage projects. Determines how best to accomplish multi-disciplinary engineering objectives, develops and evaluates alternatives, designs and conducts experiments, analyzes and interpret results, publishes papers and technical reports, delivers presentations of results, and monitors in-house activities. Prepares contractual documents, technical reports, and/or evaluate technical proposals as needed. Develops and maintains collaborations within and outside of AFRL. Maintains a technical and programmatic cognizance of outside technological and research projects and programs: reports status to peers and senior technical leaders as required. Organizes, manages, and participates in workshops and technical exchange meetings as required. Promotes a culture where intellectual Property (IP) is developed, documented, protected, and encouraged. Inherent in the technical publication review process is a thorough screening for potential IP.   • Individuals must have one year of specialized experience which includes mastery of advanced electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment sufficient to apply experimental theories, principles, and concepts to project execution and advisory services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service.   • Must have at least one year of specialized related experience at the DR/DO-01/GS-11 or equivalent grade level.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and or higher as mission dictates additional requirements.
  • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring Level/Tier 1 (Foundational) Non-Critical certification in Engineering & Technical Management (N).

Desired QualificationsExperience with the technical areas below:Experience with the technical areas below:Leading modeling and simulation and analysis efforts, utilizing digital twin models, and mission level analysis tools.Familiar with RW business practices, R&D and the Strategic Development Program policies.Machine learning and artificial intelligence as applied to RF seeker/weapon engagement scenarios.Master's Degree in an engineering field is highly desired.Demonstrated ability leading or guiding cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges related to modeling RF behavior technologies.Experience with facilitating and enabling internal/external collaboration and partnerships for technology development.Experience critically thinking about strategic and/or leadership guidance to plan RF technology development to remain relevant with current technology.Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to lead people, build consensus, seek alternative viewpoints from others, and identify and resolve conflicts/problems with the workforce.Cultivates and sustains a professional environment of cooperation, cohesion, and teamwork.Ability to work and lead others in complex, non-standard, and fast-paced environments.Ability to support and enable organization program, mission, vision, values, and promote a culture of innovation.Applicants must have at least one year of specialized professional engineering experience equivalent at least to the DR-02 band level or GS-13 grade level or equivalent in an alternate pay system.A candidate must have experience with engineering and/or managing technical efforts related to weapons modeling and simulation of Radio Frequency (RF), AI/ML coupled with EW techniques, and collaborative behavior.A good candidate will have experience working in an AFRL branch (e.g., second-tier work center) and/or division (e.g., third-level work center). A good candidate also will have worked in a munition sensor research, development, and testing environment.A strong candidate will have experience leading science and technology, conducting research and development, and/or managing technical programs in mission level modeling and simulation and analysis for munitions, modeling of RF phenomena and/or swarming weapon systems. Previous experience with these technical areas working in an R&D laboratory leading basic to advanced technology development would be ideal. The strong candidate will also have experience managing multi-agency collaborations and a portfolio of funding from internal and external sources to drive success and innovation in these technical areas. Experience with aligning technical development of technologies in these areas for AFRL's priorities would be ideal.An excellent candidate will have experience leading science and technology, conducting research and development and managing technical programs with RF paired with collaborative autonomy solutions, and munition mission level modeling and simulation efforts, such as AFSIM.
