About this JobSection 23 - Real Estate23/50581103/ROWPS/08.27.25-EHAbout This Position:The incumbent of this position will assist in the direction and management of all appraisal and appraisal related services statewide as required by the Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 (Uniform Act.) under the direct supervision of the Right of Way Manager over appraisals. The incumbent must posses a valid Louisiana Certified General Real Estate Appraiser license. Statewide and overnight travel is required. Possession of a current Louisiana Certified General Appraiser license plus one year of experience as a licensed General Appraiser.Job SpecificationThe official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be foundJob Duties and Other InformationJob Duties:
  • Perform special purpose property appraisals in accordance with State, Federal and departmental regulations, laws and policies and excess right of way and/or uneconomic remainders owned by the agency.
  • Responsible for all appraisal services completed by staff necessary to determine compensation for negotiations, deposition and other purposes as required by the agency.
  • Develops and approves scope of work criteria for all staff assignments.
  • Determines the degree of support for the appraisal valuations presented in the appraisal reports; uses independent judgement and arrives at a recommended offer, which includes additional compensation.
  • Evaluates and approves staff appraisal reports for primary, excess right of way, and uneconomic remainders. Provides input into the evaluation of staff appraisers and consultants at the completion of a project assignment.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: This position is a promotional opportunity open to current permanent classified DOTD employees only and may be filled by a Detail to Special Duty.
This is a statewide position.
