Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.JOB SUMMARY:Due to interaction with students, employees and college community this position requires in-person presence.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Inspects buildings daily and identifies any deficiencies.
- Participates in daily general maintenance activities to ensure proper function and reliability of all facilities.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include replacement or repair of fixtures, bulbs, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc., using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, etc.).
- Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.)
- Reconfigures, installs, offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
- Prepares surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment.
- Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas as needed.
- Administers the work order process from receipt through completion
- Participates in snow removal activities.
- Participates in all required safety and occupational training.
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all College rules and policies.
- Inspects tools, equipment and vehicles prior to use. Coordinates maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Assists in monitoring the levels of critical spares and supplies and procures as needed.
- Assists other trades/departments as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of two years commercial/ institutional maintenance experience required. Will consider applicants who have a graduated from a maintenance trade school program in lieu of two years of experience. Working experience in a college or university setting is preferred. Skills/Training: Knowledge of facility maintenance tools, equipment and procedures.
- Proficiencies: Some proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to work well with others throughout the campus community.
