Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our high performing Valves & Transducers Team in Burbank, CA.Position Summary:Plans, designs, and implements manufacturing processes and improvements in a Hydro-Mechanical factory.Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly / test methods, and work force utilization to meet customer demand.Determines equipment, software and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications and needs.Performs Root Cause analysis on process or test related issues to implement sustained corrective actions.Subject matter expert in industry standard and new manufacturing technologiesResponsibilities:Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for improvements of safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput.Partner with Sustaining Engineering to improve manufacturability of products and collaborate with configuration management for the timely release of required documents.Consult with vendors in evaluating solutions for meeting product specifications and quality standards and specifications.Identify and troubleshoot equipment and processes that are negatively impacting ability to achieve defined KPIs.Train and certify equipment operators with Operations leadership and Quality EngineeringSit on the Material Review board, assess and disposition non-conformances, conduct failure analysis, root cause analysis, and provide corrective action.Review new designs and provide Design for Manufacturability input and labor estimations to Design Engineering and Program ManagementPerform Quote Readiness and Production Readiness reviews for aftermarket hardware.Develop or improve process documentation for New and existing assembly and test related processes.Collaborate with Test Engineering on generation of testing equipment for production rate industrialization for new programs.Evaluate and justify purchase of new capital equipment using capital expenditure reports.Qualify, program, implement and document new process equipment.Participate in Kaizens and Crane Business System Continuous improvement projects.Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or Science area of study required.
  • 2 to 5+ years of experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment in areas required: mechanical assembly, hydraulics, hydro-mechanical testing, electro-mechanical testing.
  • Strong communication, organizational and oral presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft/PC applications (e.g., MS Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior
  • Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and/or Operational Excellence experience preferred.
Preferred Experience:
  • Aerospace industry, machining, grinding, lapping with fine tolerance parts experience
  • SolidWorks proficiency strongly preferred for Mechanical manufacturing areas.
  • Project management capabilities preferred.
  • Technical writing skills preferred.

  • Manufacturing Engineer Level II - $86,300 to $116,00
  • Manufacturing Engineer Level III - $106,500 to $143,400
