Are you passionate about assembly? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our ME Switchgear Assembly team. As an assembler, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. In this job you will assemble medium voltage switchgear, both standard and custom units. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity, and must meet requirements within time constraints. Initially, you will be assigned to one station but you will need to be flexible and open to working additional stations as business needs require.Tasks require a high degree of eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range motion. You will frequently use hand and power tools; occasionally work while standing on ladders; and occasionally work inside tight compartments.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic electrical and mechanical assembly tasks, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and labeling wires according to schematics and assembly instructions.
- Mount components and route/secure cables as needed.
- Conduct buffing, grinding, and other clean-up of machined parts and components.
- Inspect components and assemblies to ensure correct component selection, placement, and wiring, according to quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
- Complete in-house training to learn how to read basic blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
- Use an overhead crane and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards, including the use of lifting devices and other ergonomic or safety devices when required.
Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules. * Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality.

- High School Diploma/GED
- 0-1 year of experience in mechanical or electrical assembly, which can include personal or hobby experience. Must have a desire to learn electrical/mechanical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products. Ability to use basic shop math and measuring tools such as tape measures.
- Ability to use and stand on a ladder while performing assemblies and using hand tools.
- Ability to use air impact tools and other hand-held tools.
- Ability to follow specific instructions and procedures and read assembly prints.
- Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
- Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5lbs. to 50 lbs.
- Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1/8 mile).
- Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 25 lbs.
- Pushing: Occasional use of electric hand truck to move parts a moderate distance.
- Pulling: Occasional use of electric hand truck to move parts a moderate distance.
- Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required to complete the assembly tasks.
- Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
