Machine parts to tolerance based on blue print requirements with a variety of metals and plastics using CNC machines.While not inclusive, this position will provide support in the following areas of the Department:Programming:
Obtain approval prior to changing, editing, or updating any CNC programs, and maintain program log as required by management business systems.
Though understanding of Conversational & G-code controls.
Plan machining by studying work orders, drawings, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Ability to select cutting tools for optimum performance in a variety of metals and plastics.
Machining:
Obtain and execute directions from the Department Supervisor.
Monitor and protects the assets of the company and insure that appropriate tooling is used for each job.
Set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, vises, tools, various attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Adhere to all quality policies and meets company quality goals of on-time delivery of completed parts without compromising quality, safety or equipment life.
Sets up milling machines by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tools, offsets, and tool compensation; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
Verification of Product:
Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to quality standards.
Maintain quality standards by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Identifies errors and troubleshoots as possible. Escalates unresolved issues to supervisorEfficiency: Able to produce significant output with minimal wasted effort.

Education: Required: High School diploma or GED. Preferred: Associate Degree, Machine Tool Technology, or related subject-area; or Trade School Certification in a related discipline or Apprenticeship.
Required: 3-5 Years experience as a Machinist in a precision machine shop (Level 5 ). Preferred: Experience as a journeyman machinist in a precision machine shop with CAD/CAM programming experience. Basic computer skills with the ability to operate within a MS Windows environment, using email for communication. Usage of Data Collection software and ERP system is required.
Computer Skills: Minimum ability to operate within a Windows environment, using email for communication. Usage of Data Collection software.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, schematics, prints and travelers is required. Effective interpersonal communication skills through a variety of methods is required.
Mathematical Skills: Basic Math Skills: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Metric to Standard Conversion, Fractions to Decimals.
Reasoning Skills: Requires the ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret a wide range of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form is an on-going requirement.
Physical Demands: This position requires standing for the majority of the day. Walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, handling, reaching, lifting, and pulling are necessary throughout the day as well.
