NOW is the time to join The Better Food Company!!The position of Relief Line Tech supports production as the primary relief for breaks. The role assists in operation of packaging or oven equipment, inspects product, fills feed trays, assembles boxes, packs product into cases, stacks filled cases on pallets for shipping, and performs other duties as needed to ensure continuous operation of oven and product filling/packaging lines. The exact responsibilities may vary as this position may be rotated on all lines and areas within the department, to include the oven area.   • Maintains the highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards.
  • Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility.
  • If required for assigned tasks, successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA and company requirements and standards.
  • As required, performs daily inspection of any applicable power equipment with proper documentation.
  • As a member of the T. Marzetti Company, completes his/her Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem solving.

  • Leads and promotes a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility
  • Completes his/her Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified and participates in problem solving.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, Food Safety Preventive Control (FSPC), FSMA, Food Defense, , OSHA and other support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
  • Reviews, understands, and complies with all applicable SOPs containing Process or Preventive Control monitoring or verification, if trained and designated as a Qualified Individual (QI).
  • Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary.

  • Rotates across multiple work areas and functions throughout the shift, to provide break relief for Utilities, Line Techs, and Machine Operators. This includes:
  • Records all information as required.
  • Assists in setting up machine prior to shift start up.
  • Ensures a proper supply of materials for tapers, fillers, box makers, labelers, cup supply remains filled and other packing equipment. Replenishes packaging supplies such as film, boxes, cartons, glue, ink or labels.
  • Assembles boxes/cases for packing product(s) as needed and packs finished product into cases.
  • Monitor x-ray equipment.
  • Visually inspects product for quality defects and removes defective product.
  • Assists in operation of packaging machine/equipment in accordance with Safety standards, specifications and instruction.
  • Provides training for others when necessary.
  • Ensures packaging materials are correct, in specification and properly positioned in the machine and changes materials as needed.
  • Monitors and may adjust weight control of packaged units and ensures codes are accurate and correct in format.
  • Maintains standard production quantities/rates for each product to ensure continuous production.
  • Monitors machine operation to detect malfunctions; may make minor adjustments/repairs; communicates mechanical problems to maintenance.
  • Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hoppers or other feeding devices.
  • Coordinates information and equipment with Machine Operator and Utility positions to prior and next shifts Leads & Operators and other dept.
  • Regular Attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
  • Additional Weekend Shift Responsibilities: Ensures completion of Sanitation responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Correctly washes and sanitizes all processing equipment, pumps, blenders and transfer lines or machine blocks, hoppers, feed tubes & hoses
  • Cleans entire processing work station including tables, conveyor chains, floors, walls, air filter hoses and dust collectors, drop cards, air and electric drops, check weights, scales and wall mounted items such as fire extinguishers, sinks, soap and paper towel dispensers.
  • Breaks down, cleans and sanitizes all filling equipment including but not limited to hoppers, feed tubes, vibrator feeders, drop tubes, filler hoppers, augers.
  • Properly operates CIP sanitizing equipment.
  • Cleans debris and refuse from interior & exterior of plant and empties and cleans all trash receptacles in plant.
  • Washes plastic curtains in processing rooms and production areas.
  • Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training programs/records.
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Machine Operator, Lead and Management.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – verbally & written – and work well with Team Members and Management.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and good math skills are helpful.
  • Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions/Environment:
  • Works in a manufacturing environment where the Team Member is regularly required to stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb, and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Must be able to push/pull 75 pounds short distances.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks.
  • May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.
  • SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Employees must inspect the condition of these items daily and replaced said items when they are no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
