- Collects and analyzes data related to the training program, including instructor utilization, simulator usage, and crewmember training progress. Provides insights and recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Gathers and tracks new hire information from resumes and Basic Indoctrination surveys to ensure each pilot meets qualification standards and to identify any restrictions or considerations that may impact training.
- Analyzes training-related expenditures and trends against the departmental budget. Develops and maintains reports to communicate financial metrics and forecasts to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
- Supports leadership and various work groups in the development of the Training Department budget. Helps prioritize training requirements and provides rationale for funding throughout the approval process.
- Tracks pilot demographic information, including new hires and upgrade candidates, to support workforce planning and monitor training pipeline health.
- Conducts exploratory data analysis and creates visual dashboards and presentations for ad hoc projects, audits, and focus initiatives related to pilot training, standardization, and performance.
- Runs and analyzes recurring and custom reports to identify trends affecting training program outcomes, instructor standardization, and flight operations. Performs comparative analysis against internal historical data and available industry benchmarks.
- Assists with tracking the progress of crewmembers assigned to remedial training. Prepares necessary documentation and coordinates with the training records department to ensure accurate PRD (Pilot Records Database) submissions.
- Reviews crewmember schedules and ensures assigned Instructors and Evaluators have the appropriate remedial training materials prior to training sessions.
- Maintains and updates training dashboards that provide transparency and visibility into training metrics, future requirements, and operational challenges. Collaborates with leadership to enhance dashboard capabilities based on evolving needs.
- Partners with Training, Flight Operations, Safety, and other departments to align on training data needs, support compliance efforts, and contribute to departmental projects.
- Performs additional duties as directed by the Senior Manager, Fleet Crew Training.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Aviation Management, Business Intelligence, Statistics, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a data analyst, business intelligence, or similar role, preferably in aviation or a highly regulated industry.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions like pivot tables, Power Query, and formulas) as well as solid working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint for communication, documentation, and presentation of data insights.
- Experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and present actionable insights.
- Familiarity with database query languages (e.g., SQL) and data extraction from multiple sources.
- Knowledge of FAA training regulations, including FAR Part 121 Subparts N & O, and the Pilot Records Database (PRD) is preferred.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with crew scheduling, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and flight training management systems (e.g., Sabre, CrewTrac, Comply365, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Experience working in a Part 121 air carrier environment within Flight Operations or Training department is preferred.
- Understanding of budget tracking or cost analysis within an operational training context is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening), with the ability to communicate complex processes to internal and external stakeholders.
