
Master - Machine Operator

- Assigns work and directs department personnel within the machine shop.
- Assures inspection of in process and completed work prior to releasing from the department.
- Conducts biannual performance reviews for all department personnel.
- Runs the daily operations of the machine shop.
- Completes required manufacturing tasks necessary to support Product Sales, Quality, Profitability, and on-time delivery goals.
- Meets daily with pertinent personnel to discuss status of in-process and newly received orders.
- Adjusts plans and resources as necessary to react to change in backlog or customer requirements.
- Plans, set-ups and operates all CNC equipment and performs any process within the machine shop.
- Inspects and/or sees the inspection of all incoming orders to assure the material and order documentation meet required manufacturing specifications.
- Leads personnel compliance with all company safety regulations and procedures
- Determines ongoing manufacturing supply needs.
- Manages stock supply in order to maintain smooth department operations.
- Submits engineering record changes as required to correct drawing errors or add necessary information to prevent manufacturing errors from occurring.
- Provides quotes on the machining of productions as requested by other personnel and departments.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Associate's Degree or Equivalent from two-year college or technical school in related field
- 6+ years progressive machine operation experience required
- 3+ years in a leadership role (direct or indirect)
- Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
- Basic degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
- Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
- Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
- Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
- Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
- Ability to work overtime as necessary.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
