Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer Lifecraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 1,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 20,000 youth ages 4-18 annually in and from 110+ Title I schools across LA County!Ideal Candidate:

Role Overview:
The Sports Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of Woodcraft Rangers’ sports programs under the supervision of the Sports Manager. This role focuses on implementing high-quality sports activities, supporting staff and site coordinators, ensuring compliance with agency guidelines, and helping to create meaningful sports experiences for students in expanded learning and community programs.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Sports Manager with the coordination of sports programs across afterschool, summer, and agency-wide events.
  • Provide site-level support to staff and site coordinators to ensure effective delivery of sports programming.
  • Help develop and distribute sports rules, regulations, curriculum, and training materials.
  • Support the scheduling and logistics for sports events, tournaments, and special activities.
  • Monitor program implementation to ensure alignment with agency standards and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to data collection, feedback, and evaluation processes for continuous quality improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with site staff, partners, and families regarding sports opportunities and expectations.
  • Participate in trainings, workshops, and professional development opportunities related to Sports-Based Youth Development.
  • Serve as a role model and uphold Woodcraft Rangers’ mission and values in all interactions.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in recreation, kinesiology, youth development, or related field.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience working with youth in sports, recreation, or expanded learning settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to support program logistics, planning, and coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as needed.
Skills:
  • Knowledge of sports rules, recreational programming, and youth engagement strategies.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and timelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, adapt, and provide solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and safe environments for all youth.
Physical Demands:
