We continue to pursue growth opportunities evidenced by opening more branch offices throughout the Southeast region.POSITION PURPOSE:Civil EIT or PE for residential subdivision and site development projects. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of design, including tasks like site layout, grading, drainage, storm water modeling, and utility design. The candidate will also conduct periodic site visits to observe construction and document compliance with construction documents. They will also manage personnel, budgets, schedules, and coordinate with various stakeholders. This position's main emphasis is for the design of residential subdivisions, but may also include commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. The Engineers' assignments will vary from specific project responsibilities to managing projects with growing complexity. As the Engineer grows in experience, he/she may be called upon to assume full Project Management responsibilities for a project within their experience capabilities. Assignments will be made based on consideration of project type, size, appropriateness, and overall project management workload.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Project Planning and Design:
- Reviewing and interpreting project plans, specifications, and regulations.
- Developing and producing site plans, grading plans, utility plans, roadway plans and profiles using software like
- Observing construction adherence to plans and specifications.
- Monitoring progress, managing schedules, and reporting on project status.
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during construction.
- Communicating effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and other professionals.
- Preparing reports and documentation related to the project.
- Assist in the development of construction and contract cost estimates.
- Managing project budgets and ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Ensuring design compliance with relevant building codes, zoning laws, and environmental regulations.
- Research zoning and subdivision regulations, prepare designs that conform to relevant codes and standards.
- Correct usage or research applied to design work.
- Preparing and submitting permit applications.
- · Overseeing plan production and submittals.
- · Managing subconsultants, mentoring, and offering guidance as necessary.
- Designing and overseeing conceptual and/or preliminary layouts.
- Working with the surveyor in the preparation of a preliminary subdivision plat.
- Coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction for codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Designing roadway plans and profiles.
- Designing and field review of the grading of the land to ensure proper drainage and prevent water damage.
- Designing and coordinating with local jurisdictions for water, sewer, and other utilities.
- Designing stormwater management systems to handle runoff and prevent flooding.
- Designing Best Management Practices for erosion and sediment control to protect the environment during and after construction.
- Preparation of plans to submit for construction stormwater permitting.
- Perform field observations and reviews of construction progress.
- Review contractor pay applications and RFI's.
- Report to client and permitting authorities on construction progress and compliance.
- Working with the surveyor in the preparation of the final subdivision plat.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in site development.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with residential subdivision design.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
- Possess a working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of products.
- High-level proficiency of written and verbal communication required. Must be well-organized and able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, and clients, including a high degree of sensitivity regarding confidential client and employee information.
- Ability to advocate and enforce Company policies, procedures, and employee programs.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.
- PE license is desirable or obtaining.
