PurposeThis position inspects new plumbing in commercial and residential buildings to include but not limited to new construction, remodels, shells, tenant build outs, repairs, new pools and replacements of all plumbing fixtures and system.Essential Job Functions
  • Reviews plans for plumbing systems to ensure code compliance.
  • Receives applications and issues plumbing permits; schedules inspections.
  • Maintains permit and contractor files in electronic and hard copy formats.
  • Makes inspections to determine conformance with laws, ordinances, and codes; checks excavations, backfill, soil conditions, and plumbing systems.
  • Informs and meets with owners, contractors, designers, and other city departments concerning plumbing code violations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent plus additional vocational training required in drafting, design technology or plumbing; with three (3) years of journey level plumbing or plumbing construction foreman experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Requires Master Plumber Unrestricted License with the State of Georgia within twelve (12) months from employment date.Requires ICC Commercial and Residential Plumbing Inspector certification within twelve (12) months from employment date.Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.Work location: 20 Interchange Drive
Work hours: 0730-1600 Mon - FriAdditional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.Additional Information
  • Knowledge of plumbing and fuel gas codes.
  • Knowledge of state licensing laws, city ordinances, the energy code, and NFPA and ASHRAE standards.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Skill in establishing priorities and organizing work.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and other modern office equipment.
  • Skill in public and interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
