- Direct traffic in and around construction sites using signs, hand signals, and verbal communication.
- Maintain constant communication with other flaggers and work crews to coordinate traffic flow effectively.
- Monitor road conditions and traffic patterns, adjusting traffic control measures as necessary.
- Set up and take down traffic control signs, cones, and barricades in compliance with safety regulations.
- Respond quickly to emergencies, hazards, or unexpected traffic changes to ensure public and worker safety.
- Assist motorists with directions and provide clear information about detours or lane closures.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, even when dealing with frustrated or impatient drivers.
- Follow all company and legal safety guidelines to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
- Conduct regular inspections of traffic control equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Work closely with supervisors and other team members to improve safety and efficiency on job sites.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Strong situational awareness and the ability to react quickly to potential hazards.
- Excellent communication skills to relay information effectively to coworkers and motorists.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift and carry traffic control equipment, and work in challenging conditions.
- Knowledge of traffic control procedures, road safety regulations, and accident prevention strategies.
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills for following work instructions and documenting incidents.
- Ability to differentiate colors for interpreting traffic signals and signage.
- Familiarity with local roadways and traffic patterns is preferred.
- Experience using mobile radios or telecommunication devices to communicate with teams.
- A valid flagger certification (if required by state or local regulations) and a valid driver’s license may be preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Must be able to pass background check
- No visible offensive, face or neck tattoos
- Outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for prolonged periods.
- Exposure to high-traffic areas and potential roadside hazards.
