Job Summary/Basic FunctionThe Fitness Student Manager assists the Fitness Coordinator with planning, organizing, and coordinating components of the WSU Campus Recreation Fitness program to include: assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating fitness program staff (Functional Fitness Consultants, Group Exercise Instructors, Personal Fitness Trainers, etc.); assisting with tracking Time and Attendance for fitness staff and organizing, cleaning, and inventorying fitness equipment. This position assists with program promotion, program assessment, researching and ordering program materials, and reviewing/updating fitness program policies and procedures. This position may be asked to assist with other areas of the Fitness program and Campus Recreation department where appropriate. This position reports to the Fitness Coordinator.
Required QualificationsHigh School diploma or GEDExperience working as a WSU Campus Recreation Functional Fitness Consultant, Group Exercise Instructor, or Personal Fitness Trainer. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, productively, and with attention to detail. Must be reliable, responsible, and able to get along well with others. Demonstrated ability to fully complete tasks.Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications.Good interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in MicroSoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.).
Preferred QualificationsPrefer applicants with academic curriculum in Human Performance, Health Promotion, Athletic Training, Nutrition, Physical Education, Recreation, or other similar course of study.Prefer applicants with current nationally recognized fitness certification (i.e., ACSM, NSCA, ACE, etc.).Prefer applicants with awarded work-study status (please be prepared to provide documentation of work-study status).Prefer individual with demonstrated interest in recreational fitness activities.
