Scientist 3, Spatial ProfilingWho We AreThe Department of Cell and Tissue Genomics within Genentech Research and Early Development is seeking a highly talented, creative, and motivated Scientist 3 to develop and apply new approaches for spatial transcriptomics, optical pooled screening, and computational microscopy. We are seeking candidates with both experimental and computational expertise. However, exceptionally qualified applicants who may not have extensive experience in one of these areas will still be given full consideration. The successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team to design, execute, and analyze experiments in order to dissect molecular and cellular circuits underlying disease. These efforts will span biological disciplines, including cancer, neuroscience, infectious disease, and regeneration.Who You AreDevelop experimental and/or computational approaches for spatial transcriptomics and optical pooled screensCollaborate with partner labs to apply these tools and approachesYou will design and lead independent projectsCommunicate results through publications and oral presentationsYou will contribute to lab organization and culture while helping to identify new research opportunitiesQualificationsPhD in Bioengineering, Biophysics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or related fieldTechnical background, rigorous mindset and creativity in problem-solvingPassion for technology development and collaborative scienceExcellent team member with interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership abilitiesProficiency in written and verbal communicationPreferred ExpertiseExperience with molecular biology and genomicsAI/ML experience applied to microscopy or spatial transcriptomicsHigh-throughput microscopy and computational image analysisSingle-cell genomics and perturbation screeningHighly multiplexed imaging of nucleic acids or proteins in situLaboratory automation experienceLineage tracingOptical engineering, electrical instrumentation, or optogeneticsBackground in cancer, neuroscience, infectious disease, or regenerationRelocation benefits are available for this job postingScientist 3The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $98,200 and $182,400 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
