- Speech/Language services will be provided by or under the supervision of a licensed, speech /language pathologist.
- The speech pathologist will evaluate individuals to determine the presence or absence of a communicative, swallowing, or cognitive disorder. When deficits in these areas are identified, the speech pathologist plans, directs and conducts habilitative, rehabilitative, and counseling programs. These will target receptive language, expressive language, dysphagia, voice, fluency, phonology, and cognition.
- The Speech Pathologist plans for discharge and provides for the patients and caregiver’s training and instruction regarding abilities and prognosis.
- The speech pathologist has adequate knowledge to approach neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adults, and geriatric patients for the purpose of required patient care abilities with techniques appropriate to the individual’s chronological, emotional, cognitive, and physical maturation level.
- Adheres to specific hospital policy and procedures and will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
- Master’s Degree in communication disorders from an accredited college or university required
- Also must be eligible for licensure, have an interim license, or possess a license in communicative disorders. The Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Pathology is preferred.
