Maintenance Technician - Electrical & Mechanical SystemsPosition Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting manufacturing and maintenance teams by troubleshooting and repairing electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. This role involves maintaining PLCs, HMIs, and PC-based control systems while ensuring minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance. The ideal candidate will work independently with oversight from the Maintenance Manager, contributing to preventive maintenance, minor design/build projects, and backup leadership responsibilities as needed.Key Responsibilities
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies, local/national codes, and standards, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identify and resolve issues with production equipment and building systems, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and material handling systems.
  • Control Systems Support: Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and PC-based electrical systems; coordinate vendor support when required.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure reliability of equipment and systems.
  • Technical Fabrication: Perform basic welding, cutting, and assembly to repair or fabricate parts as necessary.
  • System Design & Updates: Modify machine control circuits, perform root cause analysis for failures, and update documentation to reflect changes.
  • Inventory & Documentation: Utilize CMMS software to log work, track parts usage, and manage work orders; prepare purchase requisitions for materials.
  • Leadership Support: Serve as backup for the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead during absences.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in 5S initiatives, daily shift meetings, and ongoing training to enhance skills and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming and troubleshooting tools (Studio 5000, Factory Talk, Drive Tools SP, CCW).
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA, EPA standards, and NFPA 70B/70E.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Education & Experience
  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field; or a state-approved apprenticeship program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Certifications in Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and AC/DC drive systems preferred.
  • Experience with plastics compounding technology, single screw extrusion, and loss-of-weight feeders is a plus.
  • Welding skills (MIG, TIG, stick) are highly desirable.
