COMPANY NAME: Huestis Machine Corp
JOB TITLE: Welder/Fabricator
LOCATION: Bristol
HOURS: 1 st Shift. M-F 7:00AM-3:30PM
Huestis is seeking a full-time Welder/Fabricator for its Bristol, RI manufacturing facility. Must understand the different welding techniques and where to apply them. Must have knowledge of fabrication equipment and capabilities of each machine. Minimum five years' experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Study and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to determine the specifications and requirements for the project.
  • Select and Set Up Equipment: Choose the appropriate welding equipment, tools, and materials for the job. Set up welding machines, select the right welding process, and adjust settings (such as voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed) for optimal results.
  • Preparation of Materials: Prepare the materials to be welded by cleaning, cutting, and beveling as necessary. Remove any contaminants, such as rust, paint, or grease, from the surfaces.
  • Welding Techniques: Utilize various welding techniques, including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), stick welding (SMAW - Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and others, depending on the materials and specifications.
  • Safety Procedures: Follow strict safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. This includes the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished welds to ensure they meet quality standards, including checking for defects like cracks, porosity, and incomplete welds. Make necessary adjustments or repairs as needed.
  • Welding Positions: Be proficient in various welding positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead, depending on the project requirements.
  • Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding equipment to ensure it functions properly and safely.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineers, fabricators, and supervisors, to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.
  • Documentation: Keep detailed records of welding projects, including materials used, welding parameters, and any deviations from the original specifications.
Successful candidates will have:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (relevant vocational training or certifications are a plus).
  • Proven experience as a welder, with a strong portfolio of previous work. Preferably 5 years.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques and processes.
  • Knowledge of different types of metals and their properties.
  • Familiarity with welding safety protocols and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity for prolonged periods of standing, lifting, and working in various positions.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
