We are seeking an experienced Senior Radiological Control Technician (Sr. RCT) ideally a degreed NRRPT, to provide technical radiological control support, emergency response coverage, and health & safety oversight in a high-hazard nuclear and industrial environment. The Sr. RCT will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with NRC, OSHA, and site-specific requirements, while serving as a subject matter expert for radiological protection and integrated safety management systems.Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex radiological surveys, monitoring, and coverage in support of operations, maintenance, and decommissioning activities.
- Provide field oversight and guidance to onsite employees, ensuring adherence to radiation protection, health & safety, and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Support and participate in emergency response duties, including initial hazard assessment, radiological control during abnormal events, and recovery operations.
- Implement and enforce ALARA principles, contamination control, and exposure minimization practices.
- Review and interpret radiological data, prepare reports, and advise project management and line management on radiological conditions.
- Support and participate in drills, training, and incident command structure roles related to radiological and industrial emergencies.
- Interface with Health & Safety personnel to integrate radiological protection into broader worker protection programs.
- Mentor less experienced staff in radiological control practices, health & safety awareness, and emergency response protocols.
- Ensure compliance with DOE, NRC, OSHA, and site-specific safety standards, technical procedures, and QA/QC programs.
- Field-based role with exposure to radiological, chemical, and industrial hazards.
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Rotational emergency response availability required.
- DOE or commercial nuclear Senior Radiological Control Technician qualification (e.g., DOE CORE card or equivalent).
- Minimum of 8-10 years" experience in radiological control, health physics, or industrial hygiene roles, with demonstrated field leadership.
- Strong working knowledge of radiological instrumentation, sampling, and monitoring practices.
- Experience working in High Radiation Areas, Contamination Areas, and Airborne Radioactivity Areas.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations and operate within Incident Command System (ICS) structures.
- Must be available for Emergency Response.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Registered Radiation Protection Technologist (RRPT) certification.
- Health & Safety background with OSHA 30/40, HAZWOPER, or equivalent industrial hygiene training.
- Experience supporting DOE, DOD, or commercial nuclear facilities.
- Prior involvement in emergency response teams or drills.
