
Embryologist/Lab Coordinator

- Prepare workspace and equipment to ensure accurate assessment and safe manipulation of the oocytes, semen and embryos.
- Assist in daily routine lab procedures including but not limited to maturation of bovine oocytes, semen thawing and preparation, in vitro fertilization, in vitro culture of embryos, cryopreservation of bovine embryos, loading embryos in straws for embryo transfer and media preparation.
- Execute without supervision all aspects of grading, staging and loading embryos in straws for embryo transfer procedure.
- Execute all aspects of embryo cryopreservation and thawing procedures.
- Assist in the calibration and maintenance of key lab equipment such as incubators, autoclaves, lab hoods, centrifuge, nitrogen tanks and microscopes
- Assist in preparation of materials (IVF and IVC culture dishes, oocyte maturation tubes, and embryo media)
- Accurately record information related to the production of IVF embryos including all relevant data points and observations.
- Follow established safety regulations.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine, Animal Science, Biomedicine or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of technical and scientific knowledge of IVF and embryology are required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory or equivalent production environment required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook) beneficial.
- Previous experience working for a company in the biotechnology and/or agriculture sector preferred.
- Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays depending on production demands.
- Ability to follow detailed safety protocols as required during daily exposure to needles or other sharp objects, as well as bodily fluids of beef and dairy cattle.
- Ability to sit up to six (6) hours, utilizing hands and fingers to complete repetitive motions.
- Exceptional follow-through consistently demonstrating ability to organize and prioritize work for timely completion.
- Excellent eye-hand coordination, with the visual ability to correctly identify and distinguish objects of various sizes, color and depth perception near and far away.
- Demonstration of a depth of knowledge of SOPS, application of principles, concepts, production practices and standards.
- Team-centric, detail-orientated, and highly organized.
- Solution-driven and determined to achieve production goals.
- Ability to work under close supervision from Senior Embryo and Embryo Techs.
- Solves routine problems of moderate scope and complexity by following established policies and SOPS referring to supervisor for guidance.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
