
1st Shift Assembly Supervisor

- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 years previous experience as supervisor or 3 years of service at L&M.
- 18 years or older.
- Responsible for effectively communicating with the Production Manager and other affected departments if ship dates cannot be met or delays occur for other departments.
- Review jobs for special instructions and procedures.
- Train, evaluate, and monitor personnel.
- Responsible for department personnel as it relates to disciplinary actions, terminations, organization, attendance, schedules or hiring.
- Maintain and correct employee time on database systems.
- Communicate with payroll on issues and corrections.
- Monitor and motivate personnel on a daily basis.
- Ensure all personnel follow safety procedures.
- Attend required meetings including, but not limited to supervisor’s meetings, quarterly safety, training, and other meetings when directed.
- Keep all areas in the shop neat, clean and orderly.
- Turn in daily shipments to shipper by 8:30 AM. Update as needed throughout the day.
- Responsible for production planning in the Assembly Department with current and future builds that are forecasted.
- Effectively communicate with all shifts and departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Complete a daily “HIT” list to aid knowledge of specific builds.
- Maintain “BIR” report with any updated information.
- Maintain custodian accountability.
- Ensure header plate area is maintaining workflow and filing proper report.
- Organize OT when needed.
- Assist in other areas of production as needed and qualified.
- Perform work in a safe manner and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Domestic and international travel required and could include weekend travel depending on the project.
- Perform related work or job duties as required by Manager.
- Ensure back-up supervisor is knowledgeable to take over as needed.
- May be required to attend safety meetings in representative’s absence.
- Wear correct PPE – earplugs, protective eye wear, steel-toed boots, and work provided uniform (gloves when necessary)
- Lift a minimum of 50lbs.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time at workstation.
- Read and follow instructions and blueprints.
- Practice and maintain safe work conditions.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Supervisory skills of roughly 5-15 employees.
- Ability to communicate, in English, effectively and clearly by both written and verbal means.
- Work well in a highly changing environment.
- Current driver’s license that is insurable.
- Blueprint reading and knowledgeable in reading technical documents.
- Maintain quality and safety standards.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
- Proficient data entry skills, prepare routine administrative reports and paperwork using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Explain the meaning of information to others.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment written math test, physical, drug and background test.
- Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP system.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
