Inspired by the courage of one another – as survivors, activists, advocates and community leaders, The Blue Bench has helped hundreds of thousands of Denver-area individuals find the courage to move from victim to survivor.Job PurposeThe Blue Bench is seeking a Resource Specialist to join the Client Services Team. The Resource Line is our single point of entry for survivors and others seeking support, services, information, and referrals. It is essential that individuals reaching out are met with compassion and care. The Resource Specialist serves as an advocate for individuals impacted by sexual assault by responding to calls and emails on the Resource Line, assessing for needs and offering non-judgmental emotional support, crisis stabilization, information, referrals, and short-term assistance. The Resource Specialist works collaboratively with the Case Management and Clinical team, providing bridge services and support to clients where necessary. This position may also be called on to provide support to the Resource Line intern program.The ideal candidate is a trauma informed and compassionate advocate, who is passionate about providing emotional support to survivors, while helping them navigate their immediate and longer-term needs, and connecting them to appropriate services. They can stay centered and focused during the midst of high emotional, have high emotional stamina, and can remain survivor-centered while staying aligned with the mission of the agency. They are also flexible, adaptable, and have a strong commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression values. And they have a solid understanding of why collaboration among community partners is essential to providing comprehensive services to survivors seeking support.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDirect Services
  • Respond to calls/emails on the Resource Line in a trauma informed and timely manner
  • Provide initial outreach to clients that come through referrals, hospital advocacy calls, or warm handoffs from community partners.
  • Provide crisis intervention and basic risk assessment for clients and their needs
  • Connect clients to services internally at TBB and externally in the community
  • Maintain a caseload of clients to support in resource navigation (providing referrals, calling resources with clients if needed, helping to set up appointments, researching relevant referrals and connecting client appropriately)
Administrative/Outreach
  • Engage in community networking and outreach to build partnerships and ensure that resources provided to survivors are trauma-informed, accessible, and culturally responsive
  • Stay knowledgeable about all client services provided at The Blue Bench to be able to explain options, cost and wait time to clients
  • Possess or develop a clear understanding of various reporting, legal, post-sentencing, medical, and application processes, and be able to communicate this information to clients clearly.
  • Update and maintain Client Services referral/resource guide, and establish new resources as needed.
  • Maintain client database and records according to the agency’s ethical and legal standards.
  • Represent The Blue Bench services at community partner meetings and events as needed
  • Connect with community partners and maintain strong relationships to help support clients and their continuum of care
  • Update and maintain TBB’s Resource Guide in collaboration with Resource Team and Co-Director of Client Services: Resources.
Leadership and Life of the Organization
  • Fully participate in organizational activities including client services meetings, staff meetings and learning times
  • Provide support to Resource Team interns
  • Support the Co-Directors of Client Services on programmatic and administrative tasks related to the Resource Line
Job Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in human services, social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, or related field/experience
  • Understands and values equity as an organizational operating principle and is committed to continued learning on issues related to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with callers and offer emotional support and crisis management for individuals impacted by sexual assault.
  • Trauma-informed and possesses an understanding of the issues surrounding sexual assault including barriers to services for survivors, and the dynamics of sexual assault
  • Ability to establish and maintain community partnerships and survivor resources
  • Experience collaborating with external partners and within a team setting
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Professional or lived experience of cultural influences on behavior in multicultural communities encouraged. Must be open to working with diverse populations.
  • Experience with outreach strategies and ability to work with other service providers and within a team setting
CompensationThis is an exempt position, and the salary range is $51,000 - $56,000 annually.
