The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered 80% (32 hours a week) Medical Assistant II (MA II) to work at our UI Health Care Muscatine Clinic. This position will mainly support our Muscatine Pediatric Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatric, Family Medicine, Specialty/Outreach.For over 100 years, the health and wellness of our patients has been our primary focus. We see patients for pregnancy care, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute care visits, annual physicals, regular check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services and more. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.Duties to include:
  • Staff will support our Pediatric Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

No Wednesday or weekends required. No holidays or on-call time required.Location: Muscatine, IA (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)Pay Grade: 9Salary: $40,903.92 - $60,760.80 (at 100% time)/ Hourly: $19.59 - $29.10 (based on years of experience)Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
Special Qualification/License:
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous EPIC experience
  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience
  • Previous immunization experience
  • Previous pediatric clinic experience is preferred
  • Previous phlebotomy experience
